BTW is committed to providing physical therapy services in a comfortable environment where individuals can focus on their bodies without judgment or embarrassment. Treatment is evidence-based and individualized to your needs. We understand that every person and every body is different!

Your First Appointment

You will receive a one-on-one evaluation in a private, comfortable room, where you will be evaluated by a physical therapist that is professionally trained in treating your specific diagnosis. For pelvic floor ailments, an internal exam may be indicated.

‚ÄčAt the conclusion of your evaluation, you can also expect an explanation from your therapist about your condition, expected treatment & duration, and recommended home exercises for between visits.

Lymphedema Treatment

Lymphedema treatment consists of 4 main components:

  • Manual Lymphatic Drainage – This is a very light massage that starts on the trunk and moves to the affected area.
  • Compression Application – Short Stretch bandages are used to encourage lymphatic movement out of the affected area. Your therapist, a caregiver/family member, or you, will need to apply these bandages daily until the affected area has reached its maximum reduction.
  • Skin Care – Education will be provided on the importance of skin care and healthy skin maintenance including proper moisturizing.
  • Exercise – You will receive instruction on specific exercise to maximize lymphatic flow.

Pelvic Floor Treatment

Depending on your individual diagnosis, pelvic floor treatment may include any of the following:

  • Biofeedback
  • External and Internal Soft Tissue Mobilization
  • Trigger Point Release
  • Stretching of trunk, hips and abdomen
  • Toilet Posture Training
  • Voiding Schedule
  • Urgency Suppression Techniques
  • Coordination training of the Pelvic Floor
  • Electrical Stimulation – internal or external
  • Visceral Mobilization
  • Strengthening of the pelvic floor, hips, back and abdomen
  • Relaxation Training
  • Down Training of the pelvic floor muscles
  • Heat and cold Therapy
  • Postural Training

Osteoporosis Treatment

The following treatments may be utilized to strengthen bones and decrease the risk of bone fracture associated with Osteoporosis:

  • Site specific exercise
  • Weight Bearing Exercise
  • Postural training
  • Balance Training
  • Bracing

Prenatal & Postpartum Treatment

Prenatal & postpartum treatment may utilize the following techniques to decrease pain associated with pregnancy and childbirth:

  • Sacroilliac joint realignment
  • Body mechanics
  • Posture Training
  • Massage
  • Gentle strengthening and stabilization exercises of the trunk and pelvis
  • Gentle stretching of the legs, back, hips, and neck
  • Cold therapy

Cancer Recovery

The following methods may be recommended both during and after cancer treatment to regain range of motion, strength and endurance:

  • Endurance training
  • Weight training
  • Education about lymphedema
  • Balance Training
  • Stretching
  • Heat and cold Therapy
